Bike Seat Stool

This simple stool evokes the styling of Italian designer, Achille Castiglioni. His Sella chair is a bit out of reach for most of us — especially at £336. Designer, Aldo Parise, created this chair using Everyday bikes retro cruiser saddle and pieces from Home Depot. The base is lemon oil stained poplar. In all it adds up to $40 of material.

New Sound for Montreal/Ottawa

Paris Associates has started working on a new indie rock radio station broadcasting through the Montreal Ottawa corridor. La Fac (Fabrique d’Arts Commerciaux) is in the middle of it’s CRTC license application for an FM station that focus on indie rock and hip-hop â€” a first in both Montreal and Ottawa.

“The time is now,” says Paris Assoc marketing director Jen McInty. Creative director Aldo Parise goes on to say, “Montreal has become the center of indie rock in Canada and only one band gets played on local airwaves. La Fac plans to change that.”

Franchise Gets BOMed

We just opened the door. They jumped out the window. Paris Associates has been getting some really great news lately. Two of our long time clients have been awarded honors in recent months.

Community magazine Reflet de SociÃ©tÃ©, which we helped in its recent redesign has received a design award from the Association of Community Magazines. But that’s not all. They were recently awarded the Magazine of the Year by Magazines Quebec.

And then there is The Franchise. This on-air sports show on CJLO (1690 am Montreal) has been working hard to push the boundaries of MMA and local sports reporting. After a year on air they have be voted into the Montreal Mirror’s Best of Montreal in the category of Best Local Radio Show. This honorable mention is the first wave of accolades hosts Gary Whittaker and Nick Murdocco are set to win.

Design Intensive 2009

In order to keep up with the fast-changing world of Creative Commons, Paris Associates site, August Project, is expanding it’s editorial and coverage of the commons. Set to relaunch in May 2009, it will allow for the upload of CC videos, photos and illustrations.
